Recently, I had the pleasure of facilitating a webinar for the Curaรงao Chamber of Commerce & Industry together with my dear friend and colleague Jessica C. Keetelaar on a topic we are both passionate about:
๐๐ฟ๐ผ๐๐-๐๐๐น๐๐๐ฟ๐ฎ๐น ๐๐ผ๐บ๐บ๐๐ป๐ถ๐ฐ๐ฎ๐๐ถ๐ผ๐ป. ๐
At WannaGrow, we work with leaders and teams across Curaรงao, Aruba, Bonaire, Sint Maarten, Saba, Statia, and Suriname. One thing we see time and time again is that what appears to be a personality conflict is often a cultural misunderstanding.
Different backgrounds shape how we communicate, build trust, give feedback, make decisions, deal with time, and handle disagreement.
During the webinar, we shared our 3-dimensional framework we use for
๐๐ผ๐บ๐บ๐๐ป๐ถ๐ฐ๐ฎ๐๐ถ๐ผ๐ป ๐๐ฟ๐ฎ๐ถ๐ป๐ถ๐ป๐ด. It aligns how you show up (DISC), what triggers behaviors ( NLP) and why this feels natural( Culture Map).
For both Jessica and me, this topic is personal. Our lives and careers have been shaped by different cultures, countries, and perspectives. The framework we shared is not just based on research, it is based on our own experiences, lessons learned, and countless conversations that taught us how to connect.
We often start our sessions with a simple exercise: sharing the flags that represent where we come from and which cultures have shaped us. It immediately creates energy, curiosity, and meaningful conversations, far more powerful than reading a CV. ๐

It starts with understanding:
โ Who we are and where we come from
โ How culture influences our perceptions and behaviour
โ How to bridge differences with curiosity, empathy and awareness
